Good news and bad news

Back in February (https://kylascott.wordpress.com/2012/02/20/the-neighbors-part-one/), I gave the history of the house to the east of us. This house has been unoccupied for FOUR years. It was recently sold and the good news is that the new occupants are wonderful. I was a little worried when my peeps met those peeps. You know how peeps are, you never really know how they’re going to react. They may not get along and get into a fight complete with biting and a chance of real injury. I was pleasantly surprised by my peeps because there was no growling, domination scenarios or marking of territory. They even shared a drink from their six pack water dish.

I suspect everyone’s good behavior was due to Kenzie and my efforts combined with the dog that kept her  peeps also under control. The good news –meet Lilly

Lilly is a 9 year old greyhound (Kenzie and I are 9 also so it is perfect). She is a rescue and actually raced three times and won the same number of greyhound races that I’ve won. I guess that’s why she didn’t have race four. Lilly is the third greyhound rescue for her peeps.

Now for the bad news. Lilly and her peeps leave in a couple of days for very northern Minnesota, just south of the Ontario border, until September at the earliest. Bummer.

About Kismet

I'm a 16 year old Indian Ringneck parrot curmudgeon in New River, Arizona in the wild west country. If you're a sunflower seed, you're dinner.

  1. I think you and Lilly have won the races hands down.

  2. At least the peeps get along. Whew. That’s a close one. Now you just have to wait ’til Lilly gets back. (That’s a looong time. You have to guard THEIR stuff and YOUR stuff, too.)

  3. Hi to my two short legged new friends.Lilly here.Pat and Lori finally got me back to the cabin, after 3 boring days in the car.I t was very nice to feel nice, soft ,green grass under my paws.I want to thank you two for making all of us feel welcome in our new home.
Kyla…..the Derby ?……the real money is in racing the neighborhood dogs that think they are fast. You set up the races, then I show up,you get on my back and hang on !!!Oops, there is a squirrel……have to go……

    • Lilly-you’re on. It’ll be a handicap race. You get to carry Derby weight of 126 pounds. Kenzie gets 40 pounds and I get to win! Oh, you meant the 2 of us together. We can do that-any entrant that has Kenzie for a jockey will get hopelessly lost.

  4. […] other news, Lilly’s peeps are here for a visit. See here to refresh your memory. They’ll be here for a week and will return for the winter next […]
