It was a bad night last night

Kenzie had a bad night which made the rest of us feel bad and very sleepy. If I thought I was lazy yesterday afternoon (see the previous post), Kenzie was almost lifeless until the night when the highlight of our month came up. Each first of the month, we get our heartworm medicine, and both of us LOVE it. It is the only food that gets him excited. He didn’t eat much over the weekend which is sometimes normal for Kenzie with his Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). In the wee hours of the morning, Kenzie blew lunch. Unfortunately, he climbed into the big bed before he did this. They didn’t get much sleep but I stored it up from sleeping through Sunday afternoon. They had to strip the bed and try to get sleep without sheets or covers (which you don’t need in Arizona on the first of July). This morning Kenzie went to the vet early and I went along to snoopervise. We won’t mention the bottle of treats on the front desk and another in the examining room. (I’ve got the Doc and the vet tech’s melting with my begging and they can’t resist). He’s lost weight again (not a big surprise). Part of Kenzie’s problem is that he gets a natural herbal remedy for his IBS and doesn’t want to eat it. She tries to fool him by encasing it in wet dog food but he figured it out and spit the pill out. She started to fool him by encasing it in peanut butter but that might be something to trigger the IBS. The Doc took blood for a blood panel and gave Kenzie some small pills for the vomiting so that we could get the other pills which are much bigger into him. When we came home, Kenzie went right to sleep (yeah, He’s nervous because if Kenzie blows pills again, it’s on His side). He’s been asleep all afternoon. I’m watching over him. They haven’t been able to make up the bed yet because They don’t want to disturb Kenzie.

  1. Poor Kenzie ~ blowing in bed giving all he’s got. Maybe Kenzie needs a plastic bed cover,

    • SW, no plastic covers-he blew lunch all over THEIR bed! Putting plastic covers on Their bed in the summer in Arizona is NOT an option, believe me. I sleep on Their bed also.

  2. Know how you fell little buddy, they just can’t understand when you do the up chucking how much it takes out of you. Take them pills Kenzie, thats the bestest way.

  6. The poor wee fella! Hope the blood results are “good” (you know what we mean). Florence Nightingale could’t have done much better than you Kyla, in watching over your little friend – you’ll pull him through!

  7. Oh my golly. Gotta find a way to get those pills in the Surfer Dude. I’ve put my mind to it. Thinking……

  8. We hope Kenzie’s feeling better soon. And tell him to eat the pill otherwise you get it poked down your throat! But that’s followed by a treat…..

We LOVE our heartworm tablets, too. We have ours on the 10th of every month.
