We don’t get much rain in the desert, but sometimes it really comes. Last night was one of those times. Around here they have “100-year” and “500-year” floods indicating one that severe comes once in that time period. We had a 2-year flood. He drove home from work last night and mentioned there were a few sprinkles in north Phoenix on the way up. She said that there was nothing in New River. She forgot to say “yet”. After we all went to bed, the thunder and lightening started. No problem-we get that a lot in the summer, mostly without precipitation. Here’s what we found in the morning.
You can see all the sediment that came with the sheets of water. The big plastic garbage can was a third full and was found in front of the neighbors-upright! Out in back, there’s a sink hole to fill
There’s even sediment on the front porch. After helping to find out what happened, let me in-you know I don’t like water or wet ground. And why isn’t my breakfast ready yet????
Never mind the water, we agree, where your breakfast!!!.

Pees; we hope that rain is on the way here, we are in a serve drought area.
Gotta get the top priority first!
Good job no one waz hurt….Wez would of been scared stiff wiff a storm like dat..but yoz gotta ya priorities right..stomach comes first.. xxooxx
I’m not scared of the storm-only starvation.
Wow, that was some downpour. We had a thunderstorm here on Tuesday night, but to you guys, it’d probably just seem like a very light hazy rain. Think you’re gonna have to do some scratching at that there door, don’t they know it’s had work snoopervising the clean up!
Snoopervising *BOL* we LOVE that!!!
I’ll snoopervise but will NOT clean up unless it is edible.
Kyla you sure do use big words when you want to… precipitation…sediment…you are clearly one educated pup! We hope you have a more peaceful night and watch out for those sink holes – we got one in Jo’burg a year back that swallowed a whole car!!
And to think They never sent me to obedience school because They just knew I’d fail.
It sounds like your sink holes eat better than I eat.
Send Us some rain would you please? I’ll make your breakfast every day.
Sometimes you make my day!
It is most inportant that you get your morning dinner. Mummy has has to say the word “dinner” and Me and Nellie get quite excited.
I love that word. Some say “lagoon” is the most beautiful word in English. I say it is “dinner”.
Well when the sink hole opens up and takes the house is that the 500 year flood?
And what’s with the garbage can leaving, does the house across the street have better garbage.
Thanks for being a friend
Sweet William The Scot
The can didn’t go across the street-it went down the street about 150 feet or 50 meters (to the right in the picture).
Well is the garbage down the street better? We want rain to green up the grass. How green does the desert get after a rain?
SWTS
There are plants that have adapted-one good rain like that and they grow quickly, flower, go to seed and die. I don’t know how the garbage is-just after rescuing it from the neighbors, the garbage eating truck came and stole the contents.
Would you believe that WE had a huge downpour yesterday with thunder? But it only lasted about 15 minutes and seems to have just been sucked into the ground quickly. Maybe you can find a waterlogged lizard and CATCH it! Of course, you may have to get your feet wet.

Hugs to Kenzie, hope he’s eating.
When it comes to a choice between anything and food, food almost always wins. How big a lizard?
Kenzie is about the same and is up and down. When he suspects a pill is coming-he hides.
Hey eagle eye, the grooming post is out, don’t know, more then likely squirrels.
