This morning, I was checking “the rounds” and I saw Susie and Sidebites’ post about TODAY is the third annual “Show us your treat jar” day. I did not know because I wasn’t blogging when the second annual happened.
I’m not big on awards, but I’m all in with events that feature food. Here’s my treat jar
Unfortunately, They put it up high where we can’t get to it-otherwise it would be perpetually empty. They store the green beans in the freezer compartment of the fridge
Not very exciting. I always thought fridges were more interesting with the doors open.
I just heard him say, “Any volunteer to eat a treat?”
“Me, ME, MEEEEEEEEEE”! The requirement for this is to donate a box of treats to a shelter. It’s 50 miles (80km) round trip to the one He likes, so He’ll donate the price of at least two boxes of treats plus the gas money He would have spent. The shelter knows what it needs more than we do.

I don’t have a treat jar, we keep ours in the bag they come in…
How about this for an idea? Have a bag for them AND a treat jar! Problem solved-it’s a win-win situation (win for Floyd and win for you).
That sounds like a great idea. We only have a common old plastic box to keep our treats in…but then, it IS filled with tasty treats and that’s what counts.

I have no idea how they spend the money. Better to help a pup survive than to have the pack have one treat each. You’re lucky to have great treats but living and enjoying life are the best treat of all. What am I saying??? It’s time for dinner.
That’s a big jar for you girls! How awesome! I see Kaci is learning the treat drill quite well. You’re such a good teacher! We are going to bring a box of treats to the awful shelter we got Ginger from and where the good samaritan brought Fox after he was hit by the car.

I know the dogs don’t have a choice about the shelter they wind up in, but why was it awful and then you went back? It’s depressing that some of the peeps who are supposedly on our side are really not.
It’s the closest and only shelter around nearby. It smells and is county run. Since it was closest I knew that’s where Fox would be if someone picked him up. I want to free all those doggies. We got Scruffy from one in West LA which was much nicer and cleaner – also county run – so I don’t know why there’s such a disparity. I have a thing for helping the most needy ones – I do it as a teacher too. Giver to a fault, I guess. If I won the lottery I would open a shelter that housed all the critters in a place that was like a real house without those damn concrete floors and fences.
Mine are in a cupboard in plastic too. I like the idea of donating to a shelter. The Producer donates when the bin is at the supermarket. For some reason it hasn’t been there lately, we’ll have to find out why.

That’s a great idea. We donate regularly to STECS (Scottish Terrier Emergency Care Scheme) here in the UK. We have a treat “cupboard” but ….. it also contains the boring food as well!
No food is truly boring.
