When she first arrived, Kaci was a fearful dog. I was fearful also before coming here, having had to move from here to there often with no permanent thing (even a bed or a toy) to call her own. The kill shelter must have been mortifying. After a month, she’s starting to feel at home here.
Yesterday as He worked, she plopped herself into her bed and relaxed and slept. She has a long way still to go but she’s not going potty in the house as much (the little diarrhea episode on the living room couch yesterday was an exception). She’s also more comfortable expressing herself (bark, bark, bark).
It doesn’t look like it from the pictures, but the one thing about her that drives ME crazy is that the first thing in the morning, my old bones are creaking and it takes a while to get ready for breakfast but she’s so active. She could solve the energy crisis by herself. She pulls at my beard in an effort to get me to frap with her. Why is she sleeping during the day when we’re supposed to be begging for food and wide awake in the early morning when she should be sleeping?
Oh she is a darling, so are you Kyla, it will take her a good while to feel totally settled but she will get there with all your love. Her little tongue is popping out in the photo..Ahhhh π xx00xx
Mollie and Alfie
She is close to your colo(u)r in the fur and the nose.
So glad she’s settling in. She deserves a comfortable life. π
I agree-I’d have one also if she’d just stop pulling my beard. I guess her mother never told her not to pull a lady’s beard.
It’s so good to hear Kaci’s settling down and learning what a Dog’s Life is supposed to be like. Roxy is always pulling our beards…

OUCH!
What a little cutie, sounds like she’s keeping you on your toes π
You had better visit Douglas-his new post shows he needs some pointers from you
Whoops, that’s Dougall. Douglas has been MIA for a while, unfortunately.
No word from Douglas on the email front. Sad.
Kyla I feel for you and that beard pulling. Who needs it? But we are so happy Kaci is settling in. You know Scruffy came from the kill shelter and is just now, almost a year later, really and truly relaxing. She has lost the terrified look. You are a good sister and she loves you. Oh, we love you too!
Alyssa, Mr. Fox & Scruffy
I give her warning growls but I don’t snap at her.
Sound like the master of the house (Kyla) needs to provide a little more traing into Kaci’s routine. That beard pulling is not good, we know it hurts!

See above with the warning growls. I does hurt but I don’t retaliate. When Kenzie was really little, he used to come up to me when I was napping and chomp down on my ear with those little needle teeth. OUCH! I only warning growled.
She looks very cute while sleeping – but I think to pull at a Scotty’s beard is a sacrilege ;o)
It’s unfair-like kicking someone when they are down.
Thanks for the update on Kaci – we often think of her and wonder how she is doing.
Oh dear Kyla what is a matriarch to do? We still think you need to go a little easy on her … she is having to take in & learn so much.

Kaci is living the life she was meant to have.
Sweet William The Scot
That little girl deserves a big ‘ole Scottie ROOOooooo. After that, let the free for all’s begin! YOU can pull on HER beard. If you can find it….
Hey, look at her tongue sticking out in that bottom picture! Cute. (But not as cute as you my friend.)
aoooooroooo. stu.
Whoopie! Stuart called me cute!
Dear Kyla,
Voting for the Greatest Contest of All Time is open.
Time to gather your troops and vanish the competition.
Regards,
Me
I scratched out all the names of my competition with invisible ink.
A break from guarding the house? and playing?
