Take a tour with me-our citrus is coming in!
The weather is cooler (it won’t go over 55 today-about 12C) and the citrus is starting to turn colo(u)r and ripen. We have oranges
They’re just starting to turn orange from green. Lemons
Most of the limes are harvested already
These are the Mexican (as they call them here) or Key Limes. Unfortunately in January 2011, we had a bad freeze. The trees all shed their leaves, entire branches were dead and the crop of 2011 was ZERO while the trees recovered. Last winter wasn’t too bad and we’re getting some crop but the quality and size isn’t wonderful and the quantity is way down. If this winter is fine, the 2013 crop should be back to snuff. We could be taking shopping bags of citrus and dumping them near the neighbors’ front porches and they shouldn’t leave their car windows open-they’ll be citrusized. We’re getting about 25 lemons this year and were getting 250. For some reason, probably because it is usually five to ten degrees F cooler here than in Phoenix, we can’t get a grapefruit tree to survive.
Next year, they’ll be no warning-this is the final warning. Roll up your car windows.
Where do you live? We might be neighbors. Paulette
I’m in New River, Arizona. Every woman in 150 miles knows where the Anthem Outlet Mall is and we’re about 8 miles east of it. I think you’re in California but we’re between Phoenix and Prescott.
Hi kyla. Yes, I am in California, Southern. We have lots of citrus here also so I was wondering. You’ve sure got a nice looking crop. š
“Citusized’ BOL!! Oh, Ma laughed at that one! Hey, you can send em’ my way!
Kisses,
Ruby
A most sports teams say, “Wait ’till next year”.
Do you grow those for your Tequila?

SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Our Secret.
We’ve just finished stealing….we mean picking the lemons that grow over our fence. There was a great crop this year and the people who own it didn’t pick ANY, they let them rot on the ground.

My Granpawrents live in Italy, they grow Lemons, limes and oranges. The taste is to die for, not like the crap they serve up in the UK supermarkets. We are -1 here today, so no hope of me growing a Lemon, only the one that sits on the couch all day..BOL xx0xx
Mollie and Alfie
Some people drive them. There’s nothing like a fresh picked lemon from the tree.
You’ll be able to make lemonade.
Or maybe, you can put a slice in a Mexican beer…
Or a margarita!
I see Kyla is helping you get some limes as well! Sniffing them out š
Oh yeah, I’m always successful on this hunt.
Pickeled lemons? That sounds good…. It’d be hard to give a proper Arooo Roo with pickled lemon juice in your mouth. It might be: Awwooo woooooo!
Wait….I think that should be “pickled lemons”. Yeah. That’s right.
That makes my mouth pucker.
oh I wish we had a really citrus tree …not only the “fake ficus” ;o)
