I thought I covered my weakness for the sweet potato chips on my July 3rd post, but today They went bananas (for Them which means big time bonkers). All day They made Kyla chips, one batch after another-I was in heaven. I guess They read Kirby’s recent post about sweet potato dog food where Kirby said that: “Another problem I find with Kirby that is a problem with many white dogs like him, although usually mostly superficial, is tear stains. I have recently kept it under control using various methods, one being sweet potatoes. As apparently it really helps naturally reduce this problem. Now the problem with this is you must take the time to peel, cook, chop and feed your dog this on pretty much a daily basis.”. Well, Kaci is enjoying sweet potato chips a few times a day and has no “tear stains”. I figured that They were making these for Kaci in mass production mode. Start off with quality sweet taters
The slice them thin with a mandolin
Then put them into a 350F 175C oven for about 10 minutes
then turn them over give them about another 8 minutes
Yeah, they shrink but that’s life. They come out ready
Now I’m not complaining (M O R E of these is good), but why the volume? They told me that in 2 weeks, we’d be taking a road trip-big time. We live in a place where we can be in my native Mexico in a couple of hours and now we’re going to be near Canada. It will be a long trip and we’ll see my relatives, the dachshunds in Montana. Not only that, but we’ll be given a guided tour by a friend who is an ex-park ranger of Glacier National Park. We leave 2 weeks from today and I’m going to share the trip with you in posts but the Kyla chips are all mine and Kaci’s Don’t worry about Kismet-she’s not going but being boarded in the bird place with a lot of other parrots around (she won’t go-therefore she’s really a chicken). Don’t worry Kismet, we’l be back and rescue you.
Kaci and I have one thing to say about all these Kyla chips:
M O R E ! ! ! Pump up the volume, peeps, it’s gonna be a long round trip and we NEED a lot of them.
Those look wumwumyumyum! Wooooowooooo, Ku
A little travelling food!
Keep that oven going 24 hours a day for the next two weeks, just to be sure you have enough!
At first we thought those were sausages on a barbecue. SHE needs new glasses!
XXXOOO Daisy, bella & Roxy
Sausages would have glorious fat and I don’t get any 😦
Those look super yummy and you get to go on a road trip, what fun Kyla 🙂 Have a super weekend xx00xx
Mollie and Alfie
You’ll get to go vicariously with the pictures and posts-the scenery should be spectacular.
YUM! Slobbers! How exciting you are going on a road trip too!!
But Kaci and I have to put up with the peeps for extended periods of time-I hope our sanity isn’t threatened.
A few of those look a little burnt. They say charcoal is good for the breath.
Sweet William The Scot
I eat them all-in the cuisine racket, it’s called “camelization”.
A ROAD TRIP!!! what fun! and you get your own road snacks! it’ll be loooong way to montana…i hope that the peeps behave and don’t drive you and kaci bonkers!
edgar and his mum
If that’s the case, Kaci and I just might have to take over the driving.
I am going to try these for Sidney and Shelby. They both love winter squash, which tastes like a sweet potato without all of the calories.Hopefully they will like these. Thanks.
Please report back.
Potato chips are a great traveling fare. I will send my mom to the supermarket thingy she should buy me one. Your tip with the grean beans was great – I think I can trust you :o) I hope you will have a great time and I’m so excited to hear all about your adventure.
We leave a week from Thursday, I think.
Yummy, yummy and more yummy.
Have a woof woof day. My best to your assistant. 🙂
I’m the main dog-my assistants work at my command, but don’t tell them that.
Ooooh very cool!I will have to trythese out Kyla! They realy should make these!
Thanks for mentioning us 🙂
They can’t make these organic and put salt and other stuff on it. I’m on a really restricted died-try that as a gourmande-and I needed a treat I’d love.As for the mention, I wasn’t going to present it as my idea-I got it from you.
Oh, there is nothin’ wrong with ‘volume’!!!! The more the betters! FILLER UP!!!
Oh, and can you send some my way…they sound like a good diet treatie, and Ma has me on treatie rations….not funs at all!!!! (I know you know how THAT feels!)
Kisses,
Ruby ♥
A trip? A real one? Not just a virtual trip like mine?
I’m jealous. Really. I am.
Sweet potatoes for the road? I’ll have what she’s having…
ArOOOOOO! Stuart
Yes. it’s a real trip to Glacier in two weeks (OK, wheeks for the guinea pigs).
Only one question about the recipe Kyla..how thick do the peeps slice the potatoes? from the pictures it looks like 1/4″ Is that right? Your trip is going to be totally amazing and I can’t wait to see all the pictures
It’s better thin-about 3/8 or less. You can’t get rid of the moisture with thicker. I like them crispy-a little charred is OK.
Yum, must get the peeps to make me some of them!
You’re worth it, Dougall!
They look nommy!
You’d love them, Misaki.
We need to make those. Poor Scruffy has tear stains and she hates to have her eyes cleaned. Plus I think has just a tinge of Scottie in her because she adores green beans so she should like these. Fox will eat anything.
Alyssa, Mr. Fox & Scruffy
I’d eat anything also but I’m not supposed to eat a lot of stuff-especially fats.
