I’ll never be a mother. Today I went outside to do something (my business) and I noticed that my saguaro is starting to grow an arm. We got this cactus 11 years ago and it was around six foot (2m) high. It’s about three times that now.
It wasn’t there in March when we trained for the Iditarod
The proud Mother of a prickley baby..BOL.. It is ginormouz Kyla xx0xxx
Mollie and Alfie
Don’t call my baby prickly! I don’t care that it’s true. 🙂
Too cute. I guess you can view it that way. Why not.
I love your backyard.
Have a woof woof day. My best to your human. 🙂
It is cute. I can’t get a weight on it-that would kill it.
Well you call it an arm but it looks like a hickey maybe you are having a hickey.
You better start knitting some arm covers for the hickey.
Your pool looks nice.
Sweet William The Scot
It’s a cactus and everything takes a while. I don’t know about the knitting. The cactus thorns could be used as knitting needles.
OH! Well now, this is indeed a reason to celebrate. Wooooot LIttle Mother!
(I’ll never be a father either. Maybe I should look for some trees as my place…..)
Stu
I mean “at” my place. I’m just choked up about not being a father. I can’t type. sigh. I like your baby.
Yeah, you could adopt or rescue a maple?
I’m on the trail….
Hehehe what a lovely baby. Does baby have a name yet?! ^_^

It will take 10 years to gender identify 🙂
Maybe pick a non gender specific name to save confusion?!

That’s what whee did with Kismet and she turned out to be female.
EasyPeasy everything at your place has to start with a K so it is Kactus or Kaktus.
Sweet William
Or Katastrophe.
we are wondering how one plants a saguaro without getting mangled from the spines…

You have a remnant from an old carpet and wrap it around where you want to touch it. It works.
Eleven years ago. Is it the Kyla memorial cactus? Congrats on the little one.
XXXOOO Daisy, Bella & Roxy
Kyla memorial? Not yet.
Your baby has lots of ouchies on it. I dig your back yard but I’d have to be careful hiking my leg BOL.
You also have to be careful dumping a load!
That’s nice. We have a Joshua tree she grew from seed, it has a couple of arms now.
Noodledog
Super!! Last month we saw a bunch of those! See
https://kylascott.com/2013/08/25/it-rained-on-my-triumphal-trip-home and they can get big also.
Wow! That thing is huge and you must have been taking very good care of it for it to sprout an arm!
Alyssa, Mr. Fox & Scruffy
A little water and fertilizer helps. Too much of either and the cactus doesn’t know what to do so it does something crazy.
Congrats on the new bud! May you live long enough to see it become an arm!
I’m 11 and my breed doesn’t live much past 12 so I declare this a full-blown arm because I won’t be around to see much more growth.
Golly Kyla, didn’t your mom tell you you’re not allowed to die???
Do you think I do everything They say??
Wow! That is so cool!
Alex has some cacti at his house… Not that impressive though!
But you beat us in the unusual animal department.
hAHA, congrats on your little cacti baby Kyla! 🙂
Thanks-the only thing is that it doesn’t look like me.
Well sure it may have a few more prickly parts then your used to, but as they say every baby is unique! XD
That is a truly amazing cactus Kyla…but if it took 11 years for hoomins to have babies noone would ever get pregnant…good thing we’re not cacti BOL!
Congrats on the cool cactus arm 🙂
