TACO DAY 2013!

Saben que yo nací en México y la comida Mexicana … Whoops, there I go again. As some of you know, I was born in Mexico, probably a product of a puppy mill there and when I get excited, I pull a “Ricky Ricardo” and start barking in my native Spanish. What makes me excited? IT’S TACO DAY!

Before we start, Taco Day is bittersweet. Last year Kenzie joined me in tacos-that day would be his last full day before going to the bridge.

Kenzie was also big on keeping the pool monster at bay and this is for those who haven’t seen it.

This blog is dedicated to Kenzie and we know he reads it to keep up with what’s going on with us. It just had to be Kenzie who picked out Kaci and put us together even though she was miles away. Good job, Kenzie. We keep you on the masthead for your spirit.

After my pancreatitis episode in March, I’m on an extremely low fat diet. We’ve had to be creative with our tacos and Kaci has to have them low-fat also because it wouldn’t be fair to have her chow down on the real thing while I have to deal with forgeries. We get the absolutely necessaries for “tacos en el estilo nuevo por Kyla”.

SAM_0920First we have Mexican Chamoy sauce. It’s easy to get the authentic here-made in Mexico, not China. The orange thing on the right was made in our garden in the back yard. It’s a habañero pepper-sometimes even one is way too much. We can’t have a bland taco-nosiree.

For the inside, I put my favorite stuff-yes, you know, frozen green beans. Beans are very Mexican. The “shell” is a lettuce leaf. The presentation was magnifico

SAM_0921Kaci-let’s chow down. … c’mon Kaci

SAM_0923 SAM_0924Oh no. Kaci is freaked by the Halloween decoration monster

SAM_0926Too bad, so sad. You snooze, you lose. I get both!

SAM_0928SAM_0931SAM_0934I’m the President of the Clean Plate Club (burp). I think He ought to check out his garden. Those habañeros were punchless and had the spice of chopped carrots. However,

SAM_0936¡¡¡Más!!!-er, I mean MORE!

UPDATE My peeps are cheating on me. Look at what’s on the counter.

SAM_0938Yes, you see that right-real taco shells. Look at what I saw them have (they don’t think I look in the mirror)

SAM_0937Yes, you see correctly. Plates of real tacos. You know, the type that I enjoy. I’m gonna go have myself a real good sulk. If Kaci and I have to suffer with strange tacos-so should They.

  1. Now I know. I slayed the Halloween monster and came back to no tacos. Shame on you, Kyla.

  2. Oh dear. Looks like Kaci is MAD with a capital “M”!!! I thinks maybe you should have at least left a frozen green bean for the poor thing!! Tisk. Tisk.
Wells, at least Kaci slayed the creepy Halloweeny monster! Nice work!
It was so FABulous to see Kenzie. I’m sure he is up at the Bridge eatin’ some full flavor tacos just for you!
    Kisses,
    Ruby ♥

  3. You got a leaf of lettuce a frozen green bean and a shrunken pepper you deprived dog.

  5. I loved the video. Your spunk and bark are awesome! I love how Kenzie put his head right in the water to deal with that monster. A true fearless Westie.

  6. Got both! What a bonus! Even if they were forgeries. Bwahaahaa!

We didn’t remember that Kenzie’s leaving would make Taco Day a bit sad….

We’re glad you got to join in!

  7. Poor Kaci, I would of done the same Kyla..BOL, loved seeing Kenzie and the pool monster, such a handsome chap and he will always be with you.. 🙂 xxoooxxx

  8. Thanks for sharing this video with me, it was bittersweet for me too. Sadly my staff forgot to make me a taco, that’s scandalous! But the last picture is a treat (or a taco) for my eyes. Thanks :o)

  9. I’ll have my taco with flour tortillas please. Now I’m hungry.

Have a woof woof day. My best to your humans. 🙂

  10. Kyla that’s a very interesting take on tacos you’ve got there…Momz is very curious about the Chamoy Sauce…she’s seen it in the stores but never tried it cause she wasn’t sure what it would taste like…now she’s curious and is gonna get some…as for that habanero, they’re too much for me, but Momz loves them…we grow a small hot pepper here…not sure what kind it is… it’s spicy but not quite habanero level so i don’t mind a taste of it…Happy Taco Day!

  11. Oh my. Well, you snooze you loose is CORRECT-O-MUN-DO little Kaci. Those are the rules.

Now, how’d I miss taco day??? Good Lord.

I miss Kenzi, too. Sigh. Hard to believe taco day with Kenzi was only a year ago.

    roo. Stu.

  12. I’m BOL and Mom’s LOL at the pool monster!

  13. Yep I believe you got screwed on the tacos however it was very creative.

    Aroo to you,
    Sully

    • It had to be creative. I’ll never be able to have a good greasy taco for the rest of my life. Maybe one, but that would be my last day on earth.

  14. Kenzi was a gorgeous pup Kyla – we cannot believe it has almost been a year already.

As for the tacos…we cannot believe your peeps robbed you like that BUTT hey, a lettuce leaf with fillings is better than kibble any day of the week.

    Wally & Sammy

  15. Oh… I miss Kenzie… 😦 I bet he’s having the biggest best tacos over the bridge with Uncle Fergus!

  16. Kaci… you need to be more active about your food next time now that you know somebody can’t read the name on the bowl…

  17. Heather and Mr. K support your decision to eat from the second bowl, Kyla…you snooze, you lose! Plus, it wouldn’t be very Scottie-like to turn down an opportunity to score additional treats. (Sorry, Kaci – I hope your peeps gave you a little bit once yours was *stolen.*) Much love, The Scottie Mom.

  18. I didn’t know Kyla was Mexican! Well definitely need some tacos to celebrate! I love the pool and you guys certainly had a lot of fun….barking at it! 🙂

  19. Like we need excuses to bark. Yes, I’m probably a product of a Mexican puppy mill. Both Kaci and I are rescues. We’re 2 hours away from Mexico and we see a lot of Canadians in the winter. Our friends from London (no, not the UK but Ontario) drive here right after your Thanksgiving Day and return in April.
