What a Day!

Tonight I’m going to send Him 15 miles north of here and steal a license plate off a car:

2mnyk9sYes we need that plate from ranchrunamock. It’s run by an admitted Crazy Lady and her hubby, Crabby. They have 13 rescue dogs. Let’s go back to the start of the day. Through the internet, they got word of a young scottie in a shelter.

windsorHis name is Windsor and he’s 2 years old. Perfect, he can exercise with Kaci in a way I can’t and will be a life-long buddy.

We went to the shelter and there was a very nice lady who also wanted a Scottie to go along with her Westie. They brought us together with Windsor in the watchful eye of a “canine behavior” person.

Everything was great-no arguments however Windsor had a bit of a limp and moved slower than I do. We needed a high-energy dog to keep up with Kaci. Windsor found a loving home with the nice lady-I’m glad. She knew about Windsor’s limp because Windsor was featured  on the shelter’s TV program. We were all feeling a little down so what do we do? We go to the pet store to get food (in my opinion, that makes for a successful trip).  They had an adoption center there. We all fell in love with “Cali”, a Scottie mix. Yup, we brought her home. She’s about Kaci’s age and full of energy.

The staff at Halo rescue was great and their love of animals showed. Here’s Breanna, who helped us out to the car along with the new kid on the block

She’ll look better when her beard, eyebrows and skirt grow out. Shelters seem to shave their dogs-including Scots. After a quick trip to our vet so her papers and health records could be copied, she arrived home for the first time. That was successful-she went out on the Astroturf and pooped. She even did the Scottie victory dance afterward.

Now for the hard part. You guys have to help us with a name for her. Suggest away.

I heard that, Stuart.

No, Stuart Jr. will NOT work.

About Kismet

  1. Wooohoooooo! Happy new addition!

  2. And I didn’t know that They were expecting.

  3. We are so happy that you were able to rescue a new friend. I would assume that you need a name with a K for starters. How about Kandi with a K, because she will bring sweetness to your lives

  4. I’m terrible at names, but I’m sure you’ll find something that fits your new addition. What a cutie pie and a nice pooper too.

Have a woof woof day. My best to your humans. 🙂

  5. Kara is my suggestion .

My people had a difficult time picking my name . I am a 13 month old Scottie boy who came to live with Michelle and Richard last February.. I had big shoes to fill. Angus was a great Scottie that they missed a lot. I think I have them trained to wait on me .
They named me Broc because it means badger is Scottish..

Congratulations, on your “fur”ever home. Be certain to give Kyla all the respect she deserves as she has made great strides in training your humans.
I am envious of Kaci getting her own ” companion” . There has been talk of getting a Wheaton little sister for me maybe this Fall , I’ll have the peeps trained enough that I can begin working on helping with my sister.

    • OK-Kara is on the list. I hope you find your permanent companion. I had Kenzie, the Westie. Kaci is great but she now has a buddy for life. I’m too old . The new dog has so much energy that it takes both of us to keep up with her. Another suggestion (awful, from Him) was “Monster Energy Drink”. What was He thinking (or was He thinking)?

  6. Congrats on your sweet new addition.
I don’t think you wanta another K. Then you’d be the KKK house. How about Rangette? Okay… so you probably won’t buy dat one. Then how about Fiona (Fifi for short)?
    Wags,
    Ranger

    • Don’t forget about Kismet. We already have KKK. We know a Fiona and I like her-she’s the cat at the vet’s office and she doesn’t like all dogs, but Fiona and I are buds. I get along great with cats. We could stand KKKK but that’s not mandatory.

  7. Or maybe change the way Cali is spelled to Kali?’

  8. Congratulations! Now I need another dog, too! Let’s see: Karina, Kira, Kelly, Kaya, koochie koo (boy, you can spell anything with a K), Kimmy, Kona, Koosa, Kenya, Kanada, Kazakhstan…

  9. What a cutie pie. Hmmmm names, sticking with the ‘k’ theme . . . .

    Kiki
    Kimmy
    Kizzie
    Kelly
    Kiara
    Kali

That’s all whee can think of for now. Congrats on the newest member of your family

  10. Glad you found a new play mate. I know you have been looking for awhile.
    I suggest Kaylee.
    Bentley

  11. Hey,glad you finally found a young pupper, Bet “Cali” works out and her an Kaci become really good pals, also hope she respect you the elder! We are with Broc, just change it to “Kali”, so there you Go Kyla, Kaci & Kali!!

    The Mad Scots
So glad the search is over!

  12. Here’s where she came from:

    HALO’s History

HALO (Helping Animals Live On) is a private, 501(c)(3), non-profit organization founded in 1994 by two women, Michel Herstam and Heather Allen, out of their homes in Phoenix, AZ.

HALO provides temporary shelter to abandoned cats and dogs until they can be adopted into a permanent home.

HALO is a limited admission or “no-kill” facility that does not accept animals from the public. HALO, believing that their strategy serves the animals in greatest need, selects animals from the euthanasia lists at “open admission” shelters in Maricopa County, primarily Maricopa County Animal Care and Control.

In 2008, HALO transitioned from a completely foster-based organization to one with a main shelter headquarters with their first shelter facility on 35th Avenue in Phoenix. In 2011, HALO also moved into an underutilized building at the MCACC facility and began doing adoptions from there as well. In 2012, HALO added an adoption center at the PetSmart in Deer Valley. In January 2013, HALO moved their headquarters from the 35th Avenue shelter to the MCACC building, where they plan to expand their lifesaving reach by allowing more animals in danger of euthanasia to be adopted.

Since HALO’s inception in 1994, over 30,000 dogs and cats have found a new home, with our adoption numbers growing every year. In 2012 alone, we adopted out over 4,700 dogs and cats in to new homes, giving them a second chance at happiness!

  13. Very excited for you and Kaci. I agree with everyone you have to keep the K thing going so take Kyla, Kaci, Kismet, and Kenzie’s names and see what letters you can take from them to make a name starting with a K such as Klyza (Liza with a K). Or just sniff her butt a few times and the name will come to you.

    Aroo to you,
    Sully

  14. Oh! What happy news! We were going to suggest Kali, but it appears several readers already have.

    Edgar and his mum

  15. We been crossing our paws that you could find someone, we know it’s been a madding search, we are gonna do a happy feet dance tonight!

    Susie, Sidebite & Shadow

  16. Yippee! I’m pleased for you. Hope “Cali” is a little calmer than the new addition I have had to endure for the last 6 weeks! I was going to suggest, like others above, that you swap the “C” for a “K” and call her “Kali” (it could’ve been short for Caledonia, a scottish name of course) – anyway, whatever she’s gonna be called, she will be just great for you all.

    PS love the alliteration!

    RooOOOoodles Bobby & Fabianne xx

    • She’s at least a year old so we’re not going through the Fabi thing. Housebreaking will be a struggle. She’s pooed at least 10 times since she got home 16 hours ago.

  17. Congratulations! Kaci and the new member are going to have a ball, racing around together. You are going to have your work cut out for you trying to keep those crazy kids in line.

    XXXOOO Daisy, Bella & Roxy

  18. Kyla, this is such wonderful news 🙂 What about KODI ? .. xxxooxxxx

    Mollie and Alfie

  19. I know I had to have both of my rescues shaved because unfortunately there’s not a lot of time to care for a cocker coat in a shelter. It was easier to start over fresh than deal with the mess.

He’s adorable though, I’m sure he’ll make a great new addition to your family. 🙂

    • It’s going to take a while, but a Scottie has to have brows, a skirt and a beard. It’s going to be a year long project, we think.

      • I grew up with a scottie/Schnauzer mix and you are absolutely right. We’d get her skirt cut close during the winter because we get a lot of snow, but her eyebrows were glorious.

  20. Kallie, Kodi, Kali,Kara, Kady.. or Nora.BOL xxx

  21. Or Kara ( Means Love ) KiKi ( child ) I’m on a roll xxxx

  22. I am way behind. Sorry. Kaleb
The meaning of the name Kaleb is ‘Dog; Heart’.
I think he will have lots of heart.
    Sweet William The Scot

    • Just write me of as dumb. I was thinking boy names because Tennessee Scottie Recuse has a little guy I think would be perfect, but Lee has to have surgery tomorrow and I am going to live with a friend till Monday. So we cannot do a thing.
      SWTS

  23. Why not just Kali?
Congrats on the new member of your family. You’re the matriarch now Kyla, hope you’re keeping the little ones in line!

  24. OMD! OMD!! I am late to the party!! Congrats to you gals!! How fun to have another sister in the house!!
    Alyssa, Mr. Fox & Scruffy

  25. And there’s a problem with Stuart Jr.?????? Wha’ the………

OK. I need to be slapped. How’d I miss this????

I swear. I’ve been missing soooooo many things lately. Is it because I’m getting a wee bit older???

Wait….I’ve been out of town. THAT’S IT!!!!!! Now. That’s settled.

    WOOOO HOOOOO AROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooo!

Wait. She was on the euthanize list????

    Oh. No. Tell. Me. No.

    SHE’S BEE-YOU-TI-FUL!!!!!!

I’m shedding a wee tear. Y’all are so grrrreat. Really. You are.

Here’s to you my Kyla friend. And your little dog, too. Wait. That’s from the Wiz of Oz. Tell your peeps you’ll keep them ’cause they’re what peeps should be. CARING.

    Arooos, Stuart Sr.

  26. Golly Kyla! You ONLY have 2 dogs! (It is’t polite to count the queen of the castle in such numbers.) When you get a few more, I’ll tell you where that vehicle is parked so you can steal the license plate!

    Train Kali well!

  27. What a pawsome story! Oh we are so happy for you and Kaci and most of all Kali. Big congrats you three, we wish you many years of happiness.
    Wally & Sammy

  28. Wow!! I’ve missed so much! You got a puppy! Yay!! Can’t wait to see what you named her (when I read your next post!)

  29. Congratulations!! 🙂 I’m glad the new kid got here while you’re still the boss of the castle… so to speak.
