Have you noticed that people are talking much softer? I used to be able to hear the sound of the closet door that contained my dinner-and I’d be right in. Now, I can’t even hear DINNER being yelled. They have hand signals for me and I know the come on for dinner. I can barely hear it when Kaci or Kali sounds the alarm.
Now they do make hearing aids for canines, but I just won’t hear of anything being stuck in my ears. I may have to break down and do the silly thing and I have to ask those who did it. Did the rabbit ears make you hear better? Don’t say you didn’t do it-I have the evidence (thank goodness it’s visual).
Wally and Sammy from South Africa
And I’m certain that there are others also. When you report, comment below-please don’t use the telephone.
You look adorable and then some. I wouldn’t worry about hearing them calling you for dinner. They will come and find you. I’m sure of that.
Have a woof woof day. My best to your humans. 🙂
But they’re so slow. I always want my dinner NOW.
Hey, Rabbit Ears or not, I do what I want when I want so I really don’t listen to the peeps anyway.
Don’t worry. You’ve still got your sense of smell and your good nature.
The difference is that you don’t want to listen to the peeps. I used to be like that. Now I can’t listen to Them. It’s a Scottie thing to ignore Them. I can’t ignore what I don’t hear.
It might not be so bad not hearing the younger siblings….but Dinner is another thing. BUTT those crazy ears ARE NOT the answer. We’d never wear them.
XXXOOO Bella & Roxy
I thought I’d never wear them, but if it helps me get dinner quicker-I’m game.
Kyla – My rabbit ears were great! I could hear everything. You really need to get a pair. I’m sure dey are on sale now.
Pees. Dar is nothing I’d like better dan to see you in a pair of pink ones. BOL.
Oh, I’d have to get them in black or at least dye them.
Just as long as they let you know when something important is going on who cares about all the other buzz. Your ears look just perfect.
Sweet William The Scot
At least I wouldn’t have to listen to any scolding.
We had a scottie/schnauzer mix that passed away in ’10. Her last few years her hearing went, she was always an alert barker, as soon as our garage door started going up she was at the back door. In her later years she’d still run over and bark, even if the garage hadn’t gone up. We jokingly said it was her making up for the times she missed alerting us.
I hope I don’t go tilting at windmills.
All Scotties are selectively deaf in case you didn’t know. They hear what they want to hearand when they want to hear.
When I don’t answer the call to dinner ….
NOPE them things don’t help, they tried that on us last year and we just tuned them out. We miss things also, like at 6am when they say lets go out, and we just close our eyes tighter!
The Mad Scots
But you’re young and don’t miss the dinner call.
I’m so sorry, Kyla. It’s a good thing you know how to read and write.
I was the first of my family to go to school. I’m not gonna mention I flunked obedience school.
Obedience is overrated.
Well gurl, I can say all they did was make me hungry for carrots…and I HATE carrots. (oh, and I did do some hoppin’ too…) Butts, no, they did not make my hearin’ any betters. Oh, I did gets some Mexican radio stations in though….it’s gonna be sunny and 87 degrees BTW!
I say let them bring your foodables TO YOU!!! Yes, this is the time in life when YOU should gets everythings on a silver platter, or bowl, as the case may be.
If it’s 87 degrees (Celsius) in Mexico (where I was born), that’s almost 190 (Farenheit) here. I’m glad I got outta there because that makes Arizona seem freezing. I already love carrots but they make me see better. I’ll take your vote to skip the silly ears.
I figure us Scotties have big enough ears so we don’t need any rabbit ears to assist us. You might be losing your hearing by you haven’t lost your sense of smell or sense of humor.
Aroo to you,
And I haven’t lost my sense of taste-i LOVE food!
Oh Kyla, forget the bunny ears – you’re too chic for that. Drag your bed closer to the food spot that way you can feel the vibration of the their footsteps and see them when they even come close for dinner time.
Alyssa, Mr. Fox & Scruffy
Good idea. I’ll continue to work on that because I stay in the kitchen in case somebody might come in and something edible might drop or appear. Maybe I’ll drag my bed in there so I’m always on the scene.
*clears throat…does a few test barks* KYLA, MOM SAYS WE HAVE “SELECTIVE HEARING” WITH OR WITHOUT THE BUNNY EARS. IN FACT I (WALLY) WAS SO BAD AS A PUP, MOM & DADA ACTUALLY THOUGHT I MAY BE DEAF *BOL* AS LONG AS YOU CAN SEND & RECEIVE MESSAGE IN ONE WAY OR ANOTHER WE SUPPORT YOUR DECISION NOT TO GET A HEARING AID.
Wally & Sammy
Thank you for shouting. I think I got it. The consensus seems to be no hearing aid and no bunny ears. I’m OK with that.
I have a bad case of selective hearing and no rabbit ears no matter how big is going to fix that. Have a tremendous Thursday.
Best wishes Molly
I guess it’s better to be clueless than clueless and silly.
I think you should stake out the kitchen all the time to make sure you don’t miss anything
You’re right, that’s the only important place and missing something from there is a catastrophe.
A friend has a dog that can not hear and the peeps learned sign language and taught the dog. They also had 2 other dogs and one of the dogs stayed near the dog who could not hear and made sure the dog would come or stay safe. So I think one of the youngsters should let you know about dinner and treats or if you should move out of harm’s way.
I would hope that they’d do that for me. I don’t think they’d tell me that food was available-they’d polish it off by themselves.
Uncle Fergie had the same problem… And I will too I guess, if I can’t sort out this ear infection problem…
The human was seeing the doctor about her ears this week, now she feels like she’s underwater the whole time. Wonder if that’s how Donna feels like when her floppy ears get an infection. You take care, Kyla. Make sure the foods on time 😉
We are sorry about your hearing woes. But the most important thing is that YOU be heard!
Isn’t it amazing how people won’t adopt a deaf dog, but when it is a long time kid, we waste no time in coming up with visual signals to communicate without even thinking about it? In memory of our Maude we’ve sent word out into the cosmos that the next wayward soul who puts his or her self in our path be deaf. Our Maudie taught us well.
Considering that He has bad hearing, there’s no prejudice around here.
