Yesterday we went to the dogtor. I wasn’t scheduled to go but I was licking my front right paw a lot and They tried to put a bootie on it. Normally my attitude about this is a laid-back “whatever” because I know I’m getting a yummy after it’s over. Then They hit a really tender spot and a really sharp pain caused me to uncharacteristically snap at Them. They tried again, same spot with same result (duh). Tuesday was flood day and we didn’t even want to try to get to the vet (12miles-20km one way and we didn’t have a boat). Wednesday was vet catch-up day for those who couldn’t get there on Tuesday and also flood related problems-emergencies only. So we went yesterday (Thursday). The vet started feeling around. On the leg where the toe was amputated, there was an enlarged lymph node. He continued but then the spot was hit. Since the vet was warned, there was a vet tech restraining me. What’s worse than the cone of shame? Yup, they muzzled me. They took Xrays. Here’s the relevant one:
Can you see on the right leg on the left side just above (or below in this Xray) the wrist that there’s a growth that isn’t on the other side? That’s a concern along with the enlarged lymph node on my right rear log. Either of them could be cancerous (spread from the melanoma in my amputated toe or independent of that) or just an infection. If it is cancerous, it hasn’t affected the bone which is a good sign-there’s no dark area on the bone next to it. We’re hoping for infections and the vet has me on an anti-inflammatory and an antibiotic. Yesterday was National Senior Day and now I feel like it with all those prescriptions. Hopefully, these take care of both. I’m going back on September 3 for my Addison’s Disease shot anyway and they’ll evaluate the progress. If it is cancer, they won’t subject me to chemo or radiation and just let me live as long as I’m enjoying life. I’ve already beaten the odds for Scottie longevity and the vet said that there’s no sense making me miserable and curing me from cancer to have something else get me.
I never thought I’d say this, but I hope I have multiple infections.
We’ll have paws crossed for infection (and NO cone.)
We felt like we were doing one of those find the differences puzzles. We’re not sure we found it!
On the leg on the right and on the left side of the leg that almost touches the wrist, there’s a white “mystery” bulge that isn’t there on the left leg.
Me and Nellie hope it is an infection too. We think you are being very brave and our doggy thoughts are with you.
Thanks for being with me-you really are the bestest maremmas in all the land.
Ai yai yai! We’re sending warm and loving thoughts and hoping for the best. Positive thinking and the power of the paw! I refuse to “like” this post. I dislike it a lot.
I know. Hopefully in the first week of September, you’ll find one from me that we’ll both really love.
I never thought I’d say it either, but I hope you have multiple infections too. Really. Anything else will have me crying. Really. We are all crossing our paws, fingers and toes and sending good thoughts and healing vibes to you.
Alyssa, Mr. Fox & Scruffy
Thanks-I feel fine but I guess that doesn’t mean anything.
Oh dear – more dogtor visits on the horizon. I hope it’s just an infection, as I’m sure you do, too. I do have to say, Scotties take the best X-rays! I can even see the pads on your feet! You have very nice nails. Paws and toes crossed…

The inside of me is very photogenic. I guess I should have been an organ model.

Good going, it hit me square. Thanks.
We so hope all will be well and we send healing vibes and POTP and virtual hugs to such a brave pup.
Best wishes Molly
I’m not so brave when someone touches that thing.
I hope it has nothing to do with this darned big C and the vet has a treatment what helps you, when it is an infection or a different problem. I cross my paws for good news on September 3. Send you a big hug (without touching your paw, of course).
Thanks Easy. You can touch my paw-just use the other three.
You are in my thoughts and prayers. You’re a pal you know. I know you know that.
Have a woof woof day. My best to your mom. 🙂
I knew that!
We are wishing you the best. Please follow all of the dogtors rules and take your medicine. NO PAW LICKY!
You were OK until the end!
That is what mom always tells us- No Paw Licky. Sorry.
Lee can’t find it ~ is it your right or my right. Lee is confused, happens often.
We never stop sending the power of the paw prayers your way.
This is just sucky.
Luvums
Sweet William The Scot
As you’re looking at it, it’s on the right. Look at the left side near the wrist. There’s a light white bulge (tissue) that isn’t on the left leg.
The poofy area that just doesn’t have any of a mass in it? Definitely warrants more green beans!
SWTS
Yup!
Oh man. Wells, I’m with everyone else, I hopes it’s just an infection too! Butts, I have to say, you have a very attractive xray gurl!! I do see the bulge, and since I’m doin’ the positive thinkin’ today, I’m sayin’ it’s just a nasty infection! Sendin’ tons of POTP, and I am gonna come overs with a pitcher of margaritas…nothin’ heals like tequila!!! ☺
Kisses,
Ruby ♥
Injecting margaritas at the spot might work.

No, you don’t want multiple infections, silly!! Be good. Stay happy 🙂
Actually multiple infections is better than the big “C”.
I’ll rather you not have both! XD Stay well!
Sending many, many good thoughts your way. Let me know if there’s anything we can do.
Your good thoughts will help pull me through.
I’m keeping my paws tightly crossed for you xx
Thanks, Misaki. I hope I don’t need it, but if I do it’s nice to know it’s there.
We are hoping for multiple infections too Kyla.
