The news is in

SAM_1442

The v*t called with the results. It’s not what I hoped for.  The sample taken from my leg contained melanoma. This means that it has spread and there’s no sense removing the lymph node in my leg-it wouldn’t matter.  They decided not to put me through chemo or radiation. He knew a man who underwent radiation and said it was hell. While that man was in the waiting room for his radiation treatment, he talked to a woman who was doing the same thing. The woman said that radiation was much worse than childbirth. They’re letting me finish my life naturally as long as life is good. When it becomes a burden, They’ll help me cross. I have about 3 months left but it could be as short as one month or as long as six. I’m a terrier and I don’t surrender easily so I’m going for at least a year so I can tell the v*t, “I told you so”.

About Kismet

C’mon folks, we all need the POTP for our true and loyal friend Kyla ……

  6. Kyla, we are so sorry to hear the cancer had spread. We are putting our paws together and the cats are sending their very best healing purrs we hopes you get your year and maybe with the power of the paw even longer. Miracles can and do happen. ~Fenris, Tuiren, Socks & Scylla from ATCAD

    • I love cats. The v*t’s office has a resident cat and she has a sense about dogs. With some, she goes back to safety. When I come in, she’s looking for attention and is very relaxed. I guess the reason is that when I was rescued, I was with a lot of cats who were in the same boat.

  7. Well, I think everyone will agree this is not the news we had hoped for. I’m your your peeps will be giving you lots of snuggles!! We’ll be having POTP parties with my fellow Scotties here! We’re happy your I good spirits, though!

  29. Stay strong Kyla. Eat up and store energy for the good fight ahead. You are a brave one… Our thoughts are always with you… You are never alone. God bless!

  30. You’re a brave kid Kyla.

No tears because now is the time for hugs, and, perhaps…. some of the things you haven’t been allowed to eat because of your pancreatitis?

I’m not going to worry about you because you know what to do, but I am worried about your people, and I hope they know they can call if there is anything I can do.

    • I’m worried about them. Not now but after I’m gone. Kaci and Kali will be no help in keeping them in line.

      • I’ll check in from time to time to make sure they’re all being good.

They’re lucky people, Kyla. Of all the billions of people in the world, you picked them. Just being there, you changed them in ways no one or nothing else could. That makes them very special. As long as they remember your Kyla-ness in all it’s glory, and not focus on the Sad Time, you will always be there.

        We’re thinking about you…

  31. Kyla, I was hoping for better news. But you’re right, you are a Scottie and you’ll say when it’s time for you to take your leave. I will be keeping you in my prayers.

    Aroo to you,
    Sully

  32. Oh Kyla, I read this earlier and had to go away from it. It’s too sad. I have fallen in love with your dogness. You are a true one of a kind scottie and I know you’ve been trying to prepare us all for this but seriously, this sucks! I hope you show that v*t who’s boss and hang around for waaaay longer than he/she thinks. I hope your peeps are ok. I really do because if I were them, I’d be a complete mess – days off work and gobs of tears. Here’s some virtual pats and hugs and rubs.
    Love,
    Alyssa, Mr. Fox & Scruffy

  33. Oh, Kyla – we have no words. We think Kim from Golden Pines said it lovely – these days of grace. We know that your peeps will cherish you ten fold until you are called home to the bridge. And when that day comes we will be there with your peeps and for your peeps to help soothe the ache. POTP and much love and light to you, your peeps, Kaci, Kali and Kismet.

    Edgar and his mum

  40. Kyla I am so sorry to have read this, you are one tough cookie and I know that you will exceed any expectations the vet has for you. Enjoy each and every day! Sending hugs and wags!

  41. I’m so sorry and hope everyday is without pain. 😦 Take care of yourself and your humans!

  42. […] NOT GOT LONG WIFF UZ BEFORE SHE’Z GOTTA GO AND DO HER GOOD WERK AT RAINBOW BRIDGE. CLICK HERE TO READ HER […]

  43. So sorry to hear about your test results. You’ve got a great group of friends around and the start of the Highland games should help to lift your spirits.

  44. Your furriends Molly and Alfie told me you were very sick. I’m so sorry to hear this, sweet kyla. Sending Extra Healing Pawkisses to make you feel a little better ❤

  45. I read about your sicknes over at Mollie and Alfie. I’m so sorry But read this. My mom once had a 12 years old mix who got testicular cancer detected at the vet. Mom and Dad agreed with the vet, they would take their dog home and when the dog felt bad they would come to the vet who could help him over the Rainbow Bridge. The vet figured that they would come after a month. But he was first bad after 2 years, so do not give up hope.

  46. I’m late reading this.
Sad news, but I hope your time left is pain free, long and full of joy.
Your people are doing a very selfless thing, let you go with dignity instead of making you endure a painful treatment.
I can’t imagine how hard it’s for them.
    xx

  47. Kyla and family I am sorry to hear of your unpleasant diagnosis. We have a similar situation going on with our old boy Cody. He’s a Rhodesian Ridgeback, and is almost 12y.o. He has a pair of large malignant tumors, and we also decided not to put him through major surgery and chemo, as the vet said surgery would be very hard on him, and teh recovery would have certain challenges. So far, he is doing better than I expected, and I am happy for him. His life is still good–the good days outnumber the bad hours.

Stay strong for your humans Kyla. This is hard on them too. But you are Terrier-Tough, so I know you can do it!

  48. […] you have no idea what I’m talking about with Kyla and the Highland Games, you can go HERE and get the scoop……….it’s a sad […]

You are one fantastic terrier, make the most of every sausage, bacon treat and piece of cheese that comes your way and I hope you stay around long enough to amaze everyone 🙂
And when you do decide you are tired and want to go over the Bridge please say hi to Zac and all our pals there and say everyone loves them and misses them as we’ll miss you too.
Party on Kyla….. party on 😀
