Last week, I showed you some of the desert beauty that comes in the spring. The flowers on the Argentine Giant cactus are gorgeous.
As with all things, the flowers wilted and faded away. That was considered an open invitation by someone.
Do you see it? A rabbit is munching on the dead cactus flowers. OK, bunny, I have a challenge for you. See these?
See those shoots coming off the saguaro cactus? They’ll be flowers in a couple of weeks. My challenge to you is to munch on them when they’re faded. They’re about 7 yards or meters in the air and there are thorns all the way up.
Are you up to it? It’s so easy a bird could do it.
Somehow, I think da wabbit are gonna pass on dat one.
It knows it would be shish-ka-rab
What a great pic!
A movie of that rabbit trying to get to the top of the saguaro would be hillarious.
maybe the rabbit can pass that challenge to my dad… he is crazy enough to climb on high and dangerous things LOL
NO! It has big thorns. Your dad has a talent and can injure himself boiling water. He can’t be allowed to even touch that cactus.
With those long ears it’s a jackrabbit, also known as the American desert hare. Why I bet he could go up through the center were it is moist and poke his head out the hold and eat the flowers.
Sugar Billy
How is he going to get to the moist center?
Tunnel !!!!!!!!!!
SWTS
Yep, so easy for a bird. How about you, Kissie?
I’m not into eating dead flowers. The holes you see in the cactus are made by birds and they have nests IN the cactus. Nests? I don’t even have a mate.
I know, poor girl.
Don’t think that bunny will even try! That is an IMPRESSIVE cactus!
They’re the parrots of the cactus world. They live forever.
I’ve never seen the dessert bloom before, and would like to sometime. But I was watching the 3 bunnies outside my window this morning and after reading your post I am wondering if they may be organizing a way to accept your challenge….. Stay tuned, huh? š (Kim – Life at Golden Pines)
The challenge wasn’t for a group effort. We have a zillion bunnies and would be in trouble if they joined forces.
Talk about low-rent. š
There was a special on wilted flowers.
Are you giving lessons?
No. I ever said that I’d do it myself. I also wouldn’t have eaten the dead flowers.
