A challenge

Last week, I showed you some of the desert beauty that comes in the spring. The flowers on the Argentine Giant cactus are gorgeous.

As with all things, the flowers wilted and faded away. That was considered an open invitation by someone.

Do you see it? A rabbit is munching on the dead cactus flowers. OK, bunny, I have a challenge for you. See these?

See those shoots coming off the saguaro cactus? They’ll be flowers in a couple of weeks. My challenge to you is to munch on them when they’re faded. They’re about 7 yards or meters in the air and there are thorns all the way up.

Are you up to it? It’s so easy a bird could do it.

  1. Somehow, I think da wabbit are gonna pass on dat one.

  2. maybe the rabbit can pass that challenge to my dad… he is crazy enough to climb on high and dangerous things LOL

  3. With those long ears it’s a jackrabbit, also known as the American desert hare. Why I bet he could go up through the center were it is moist and poke his head out the hold and eat the flowers.

  6. They’re the parrots of the cactus world. They live forever.

  7. I’ve never seen the dessert bloom before, and would like to sometime. But I was watching the 3 bunnies outside my window this morning and after reading your post I am wondering if they may be organizing a way to accept your challenge….. Stay tuned, huh? šŸ™‚ (Kim – Life at Golden Pines)
