It’s the same news.
Do you see it? It’s a juvenile owl, sleeping in one of our mesquite trees at 2:30 in the afternoon. The good news is that the neighborhood has more birds. The bad news is that we don’t see the parents and there have been cases of owls preying on small dogs. Kaci and Kali are not allowed outside when it’s dark without being on leash. Hey owl, go pick on some squirrels.
That’s one cool looking bird. I worry about the big owl and hawks and Falcons I’ve seen around here. Xena is only 15 pounds. Glad you’re keeping the pups safe.
Lucy would be hard to pick up by an owl and fly away, but Xena…..?
Yes, it is Xena (and previously Lexi) that I have concerns for, LOL. If a bird can pick up Lucy, I think the neighborhood has bigger things to worry about!
Yikes! We have owls and hawks around here and they definitely will go after cats and squirrels.
Pam
I will have to speak with my distant relatives about that.
We see turkey vultures every once in a while. We have never seen any owls. Be Careful.
Don’t vulture only eat the dead?
We don’t see them but at night we DO hear owls hooting and sometimes we hear a lot of screeching too…maybe a prey of said owls?
We do have plenty of hawks around here, and sometimes falcons, apparently there are so me bald eagles around too , though we have not seen those, probably we are still a bit too civilized with cars and peeps all around.
Hope that owl friend of yours will find food in the rodent category…and maybe his/her parents.
We have coyotes also. It’s a cruel world out there.
Preying on small dogs! Yikes!! We think squirrels would make a good dinner…but maybe rattlesnake would be even better.
They can have all the snakes they want as far as I’m concerned!!!!!
They’re no fussy about dinner.
Whoa…that is quite the sight! Here’s hoping the pupsters (and you too of course) stay happy and safe in 2020. Happy New Year to the whole hee-haw gang, Kismet.
All of us want you around, in 2020 and beyond.
Thanks, Kismet!
Tell that owl to go eat snake!
Sugar Billy
I did and I hope the advice was followed.
At least there are no lions, tigers or bears, oh my! But we also have birds of prey and coyotes.
Yeah, we have those coyote problems also, We do have the roadrunners to distract them.
Eeek, I didn’t know owls do that to dogs, that’s awful. I thought it was just hawks.
There are nasties that swim, fly, run and they’re all hungry.
OMD, hope everything is ok!! Happy New Year Kismet and family!!

Everything is fine. Have a greqrt 2020.
Oh dear! You wants me to come overs and stand guard??? I don’t thinks that owl could lift my big arse up if he tried! BOL!!! Seriously, be careful my furiends…..or just have Kismet pay the dude off with sunflower seeds….☺
Kisses,
Ruby ♥
Sunflower seeds? He’s not a fan.
Wow, that is a Big Bird. Good job he’s outside Kismet!!
And it’s a good thing that no dog is inside him.
Hi Kismet! Wow, I’ve never seen owl in my life… well except the ones on the screen. Keep eye on your doggie siblings, ok? 🙂

Yeah, they can body snatch (little dogs)
We have some HUGE owls here in Northern Idaho. We love to look at them…from a distance and from inside the house!
Purrs & Head Bonks,
Alberto
Hopefully they won’t come into your house looking for dinner.
MOL! One did come right up to the sliding glass doors in the TV room downstairs and The Female Human nearly had a heart attack. That guy was HUGE
