Don’t get put off because this is about US football. It’s not about the game but some interesting stuff.
Yesterday was the penultimate football game. It was held at the University of Phoenix stadium.
Yesterday was an exhibition game of players from all the teams except the last two who will play for the championship next Sunday in the same place-the Super Bowl Yesterday was the Pro Bowl. Here are some shots before the game:
What’s interesting here is the field. It’s a semi-domed stadium and the opening to the outside on the roof is like a car that has a small sunroof. Even open, the sunlight isn’t enough to grow grass and the field is natural grass. How do they do it? They don’t use artificial lights, either. They simply roll the field (it’s on rollers and tracks) outside! It’s to the right in this picture-the seats there are removable and when the grass has had enough light and there’s an event, they roll it back in and erect the stands again.
Here’s a view of the press box. Oscar Madison was nowhere to be found.
I told you this wouldn’t be about the game so we’ll fast forward-anyone who cared already watched it on TV. Right after it was over, the crew got busy preparing the stadium and field for the big championship game next week. Notice the work space suspended from the ceiling for some reason.
and the work trucks approached
Next week’s report on the Super Bowl should be interesting also.
They take the Grass fur a Roll and a Stroll… into the sunpuddles? THAT is fascinating. We just pee on grass here on the hill… We have never THOUGHT of taking it.. somewhere. Wonder if it would like a ride in Jessie Jeep?
Guess we will have to wait until the Snow all melts off to give it a try though.
It’s a great idea. Instead of having to walk to the grass to pee on it, the grass comes to you.
A behind the scenes look at all the work for that stadium. Most people haven’t a clue how much work goes into this sports space. Awesome and thanks.

Have a terrific day. 🙂
There are those who say that He hasn’t got a clue about anything.
You guys are lucky ducks÷)
Ducks, did someone say ducks? Nope, not until April when to pool at Chase Field opens.
Wow that was interesting and how clever being able to move it. Have a marvellous Monday.
Best wishes Molly
Thanks. One of the reasons for natural turf is that it is also used as a soccer pitch (I think I got that correctly).
Whoa, pressbox? You’re a bird with connections.
Flight ability has advantages. The “sunroof” was open last night to start the game.
We get the superbowl here, too. We heard it was going to be in Arizona this year. Great pre-game report, Kismet.
Thanks-going where no other bird reporter has gone.
Really? You take your own grass for walkies wiv you ?
That’s handy
Loves and licky kisses

I say “come” and it does!
We are big football fans. You are lucky to have the game lose to you.We will be watching.
Report on Monday but it won’t be about the game, just the atmosphere.
Yep…Dads has been there…got to get a tour while they were building it while he was out working the Nascar race one year.
NOT Watching the bowl, the peeps will be elsewhere, something about a Dinner
The Mad Scots
Dinner has priority, Kyla always said.
I’m just disappointed Oscar Madison wasn’t seen.
Alyssa, Mr. Fox & Scruffy
He is the peep’s rôle model for haute couture.
I think I need some grass rolled out in my room for me.
Hey, watch that talk about rolling grass.
Crikey …… they move the grass???????? Fair dinkum …. those blokes are smart, aye?? In Australia we’d probably try to move the sun!!!!!!!!
It beats what happened with the first domed stadium in 1965-the Astrodome in Houston. The grass died and they had to come up with “AstroTurf”.
wow that’s interesting… I want such a rolling grass too…. it could be great to do my business inside and we can roll it away including the recycled food!
From the size of what you leave, the building may not be large enough for that. 🙂
Sort of like in a small town they roll up the sidewalks after dark. I would like to steal some of that sod!
Sweet William The Scot
That is cool! I didn’t know they did that. Thanks Kismet 🙂
Marty’s Mom
NO WAY!! That’s amazing!!

You stole the Pro Bowl from Honolulu but we get it back next year.
